In brief

What it grades
50 brands graded on nine commercial pillars against full potential; median C, top A-.
How to read it
Letters are read against full potential, no curve. Under 60% coverage a card is not graded; a provisional grade, marked *, carries its range.
What to do with it
Find your card, read the two pillars furthest from full potential, and start with the first assignment. Dispute any criterion with evidence.

To the class

There is no curve here. Every letter grade on this card is read against full potential: the commercial system you could run today with tooling that already exists, AI included. Against that standard the median brand is a C: satisfactory work, with the commercial basics in place. The top of the class is an A-. No brand earns an A overall, because none has yet published the record of running the full system.

A satisfactory commercial system still makes money. Read the letter grade as the gap to full potential: the pillar scores show where that gap sits, and the margin notes say what we would do first. Valuing that gap requires operator data and a separate commercial analysis; this index does not do that.

Grades are non-negotiable, but can be corrected in light of evidence: dispute the score on any pillar, and if the evidence holds, we will correct the record in public. No grade grubbing. If you would rather understand a grade than change it, come to office hours.

Nine pillars: Demand Quality · Pricing & Revenue Integrity · Destination & Itinerary Advantage · Product & Experience · Distribution & Channel Productivity · Ancillary & Onboard Monetization · CRM, Loyalty & LTV · Commercial Execution Discipline · Strategic Flexibility & Resilience. Rank within a peer group is the comparison the method defends; a gap of a few points between neighbours sits inside the method’s uncertainty and reads as a tie.
