What we collect

When you use the contact form, you may share your name, email, company, and whatever decision context you choose to include. If you email us directly, the same principle applies: we receive the information you send us so we can respond.

How we use it

• To reply to your inquiry or schedule a working session.
• To understand the commercial question you want to discuss.
• To send publication or CEI release updates when you submit a briefing signup form.
• To maintain a basic correspondence or subscription record so we can continue the conversation or honor the request.

The site does not configure or promise a fixed retention period for inquiry or signup records. You can ask us to correct or remove a record at any time using the contacts below.

Service providers

Website inquiries and briefing signups are submitted through Netlify Forms so they reach us without a public-facing CRM on the site. The site is served through Netlify and Cloudflare. If we engage in deeper advisory work, any additional tooling or document-sharing approach is scoped directly with the client.

Confidentiality

Initial inbound inquiries are treated as confidential business conversations. If a discussion moves into active advisory work or data review, a mutual NDA is standard practice. Ours is published here, in plain English and already signed by H&K.

Analytics

This site uses Plausible for aggregate page-view and usage reporting and also sends a limited event record to our first-party endpoint at /.netlify/functions/hk-analytics. The first-party record may include the event type, page, content or release version, referral origin, campaign tags, country, and bounded interaction labels. The endpoint rejects form-content fields such as name, email, phone, company, and message text; it does not set a cookie or accept an advertising identifier. That endpoint writes to provider runtime logs only.

Pages also send a small reading record to /api/collect, our own endpoint on this site. It notes that a page was opened, how long it was actively read and how far it was scrolled, which kind of link was followed (a source, a download, an email link: never the address itself), what was typed into a fact-bank search box (shortened, with anything that looks like an email address or long number removed), campaign tags, the referring site's name, a rough screen size, and the country. It uses no cookies, only a visit counter kept in your own browser. We do not record keystrokes or form contents, and we store no full IP address. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, this record is not sent at all. These records are stored with our host, Netlify, and kept for up to 180 days. Only the partners and the tools we run can read them. We use them to learn which research is useful. We do not run ad targeting, resell behavioral data, or use these events to build marketing audiences.
